NSW LAND ARMY

We are the girls that will harvest your crop,
We'll stick to the job 'till we bloomin' well drop,
We have no glitter, no glamour or fuss,
But no other army works harder than us.

Chorus:
Dinki-di, dinki-di,
And I hope you won't think we are telling a lie.

We 're up before daybreak and doing the chores,
Chopping the wood, cutting lunches and sweeping the floors,
We 're picking the grapes and we 're packing them too,
There isn 't a job that a Land girl can't do.

They say that the Land Army girls are so tough,
That eight hours of work isn't half long enough,
They 'd much rather work than have tea or a chat,
But perhaps we 'd best draw the curtains on that!

The Colemans and Walthams are ripe on the vine,
They'll split if it rains so we hope it keeps fine,
Then all of the growers will feel mighty good,
They'll rush to our hostel and chop up our wood.

We 're picking tomatoes and chipping the rows,
Our backs are all sunburnt through holes in our clothes,
The sun on the ground is more than just warm,
But we feel so good 'cause we're in uniform!
